Eskimo Joe set the stage on fire when they performed at St Stephens church in Newtown. The three piece who hail from Perth were back after a brief hiatus and played some of their classic tracks as well as new tunes from their 5th album Ghosts of the Past.
To accommodate for keys and drums a Megadeck riser was installed on stage with Megadeck camera risers constructed throughout the venue, to film and capture the show in its entirety.

You might LMFAO when watching these party boys but it can’t be denied that they put on a good show. With colours and props galore, it was a visual feast when they took to the stage. Changing Lanes Festival

After a successful 2010 Changing Lanes, the festival returned with gusto and a new location. Set in Surry Hills, the event was held on the street and turned a busy city artery into a full blown festival within hours.

Birds of Tokyo

Australian act Birds of Tokyo were the headline act for a unique Mastercard sponsored event held at Cockatoo Island. Playing to an intimate crowd of 1500 in a disused warehouse, the show was a huge success and was another unusual event carried out by The Sound Campaign. Megadeck was employed to provide raised staging with various elements. The clear acrylic stages worked a treat allowing multiple light shows to radiate through the stages. Mesh stages were included in the set up for extra impact, making use of smoke machines and pyrotechnics. Simple ply top stages covered the down stage area and carpet top risers for the drummer and keyboardist.

James Blunt

After touring Europe for close to a year it was Australia’s turn to enjoy the James Blunt experience. Touring nationally and selling out his first show at the State Theatre has set the trend for his remaining shows. To mimic the travelling European set Megadeck fabricated custom LED light brackets for all four instrument risers which created a seamless display for all the visuals the LED’s were programmed to produce. Replicating international sets and tailoring our staging systems is all apart of the Megadeck commitment to providing high quality stages.

ACO in 3D

An innovative project conceptualised by media artist Michela Ledwidge saw the Australian Chamber Orchestra filmed in 3D for a virtual and immersive experience set to tour the globe. Using a DSLR camera and custom build stereo mirror rig, each member of the orchestra was individually and simultaneously filmed in front of a green screen playing their unique instrument to create a synthesis of sound. Once combined, the finished score is played in an installation space and accompanied by visuals of each musician for the listener to hear and see in 3D for a completely new and immersive treat for the senses.
After a year in the making it all came together to be filmed at Fox Studios and to assist each musician Megadeck provided individual risers for each player to perform and have enough space to comfortably undertake the task at hand.
Produced by MOD Productions and DIORAMA Films & Digital as apart of an advanced digital project for the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Malaysia Food Kitchen

Held in the unusual setting of the State Theatre laneway, the Malaysian Food Market attracted a lot of attention. Over 10 different Malaysian restaurants cooked up some of there most popular dishes for the hungry crowd to sample. To create an atmosphere out of nothing is difficult at the best of times but with some know how and the right suppliers, anything can happen. Megadeck supplied silver mirror acrylic tables for convenient and swish looking seating as well as functional work benches for the stars of the show; the cooks, to pound, roll, flip and bake their tasty delights.

Gorillaz

Brit pop superstar Damon Albarn recently toured Australia with his eclectic band Gorillaz. Playing on the back of their new album Plastic Beach, a star studded line up took to the stage for a non-animated show including hip hop icons De La Soul, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon from The Clash, Little Dragon, and soul legend Bobby Womack
With so many musicians on stage a multitude of Megadeck risers was required, including drums, keys, orchestra and back up singers.
The centre piece was of course the colour changing Gorillaz letters all resting on a 13.2 metre long by 1.8 metre tall Megadeck stage.

When Jay Kay comes to town you know there is going to be a party. Held at a waterfront residence Jamiroquai brought his band of merry man to the sunny shores of Australia to promote his new album. The stunning show was performed on a clear acrylic Megadeck stage spanning the width of the pool and topped off with synchronised swimmers, painted models and celebrities as far as the eye could see.

Virgin 10th birthday

Cell Block Theatre

Established in 1836 as a prison for women, the old cell block gaol was closed in 1914 and sat dormant for more then 30 years before being handed back to the community. Generous patron Bill Crisp pushed for the building to be converted into a theatre and in 1955 it was a fully functional theatre. Today it is used for plays and education as apart of the National Arts School. It also doubles as a fantastic venue as can be seen here with Megadeck staging providing a clear 2.4m tall DJ deck littered with fairy lights.

The legendary artist and DFA label founder James Murphy, toured for the last time as a part of electro-rock outfit LCD Soundsystem. Touring Australia for the Splendour in the Grass festival, HotChip accompanied LCD Soundsystem at the Horden Pavillion as a side show, much to the delight of Sydney-siders. Megadeck staging provided rolling risers for speaker stacks and drums, making the turn around between acts seamless.

Tim Burton Exhibition

The legendary Tim Burton was in town this week to help launch his exhibition in Melbourne. Aptly held at the Australian Centre for Moving Image, the exhibition covers all his famous works such as Edward Scissor Hands, A Nightmare Before Christmas and Alice in Wonderland. The show includes drawings, paintings, puppets, storyboards and all manner of oddities that this great film maker is well known for. Megadeck created this half round opal acrylic stage for guest speakers and Tim Burton to discuss his works and take questions from the floor.

We have all thought it but rarely get the opportunity to do it…voyeurism that is. Tucked away in a back alley in Carlton, Theresa Harrison put on an art show titled Holes in the Wall which invited people to peer through windows and sneak a peak at the ordinary lives we live. To make access possible Megadeck were recruited to provide steps and platforms for the curious passer-bys to investigate the inner workings of 276 Station st.

Hillsong Conference 09

With an estimated 20,000 people in attendance for this years Hillsong 09 conference at ACER Arena, the spectacular event required a spectacular stage. The cork screw like stage was a mixture of Megadeck stage pieces and custom made sections to create an overall seamless and fluid stage. Comprised of many layers the stage housed over 100 choir members, hydraulic lifters for teams of drummers to use, monitor lips and multiple entry and exist points. The week long event was loved by all and was a major success.

Setting the scene for success, Megadeck constructed a huge set of stages for this year’s Vodafone MTV Australian Music Video Awards held at the Convention Centre Sydney. With a massive 12m round black acrylic stage, a smaller 6m round black acrylic stage, adjoining stages and camera risers, the event stretched over 3 of the 5 halls in the Convection Centre. Performing on the night were cross Tasman comedy rockers Flight of the Concords, retro rapper Vanilla Ice and U.S rock giants, The Killers.

The Phantom of the Opera

Megadeck has kindly donated their time and services to helping out the Bonnie Babes charity event held at Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s Sydney residence, Kirribilli House. Trying to raise awareness of the high rate of miscarriage and stillbirths in Australia, Bonnie Babes invited some big names and had an auction to raise money urgently needed for medical equipment to help hospitals keep premature babies alive.
